The McLaren 570S Has Finally Gone Convertible

Mclaren - The McLaren 570S Has Finally Gone Convertible - News
McLaren has confirmed the long-awaited 570S Spider at the Shanghai motor show. The open-top 570S will finally join the range later this year, two years after the 570S coupe was originally launched.
At present we have no official pictures, but this render from X-Tomi Design has got to be close to the mark.
According to the only information we have so far, it’s set to continue with the same 3.8-litre twin-turbo V8 as the coupe, with no tweaks of note. With a slight weight increase mirroring that of previous McLaren Spiders, we can expect the drop-top 570S to be almost as fast as the 205mph coupe.

Kerb weight is expected to be something like 1350kg, with 0-62mph batted aside in around 3.3 seconds. Typically, McLaren adds £20,000 or so for Spider models, so the 570S Spider is likely to cost a little over £160,000.
There won’t be a 540C Spider, though, according to an Autocar report. In the markets where the 540C is actually sold at all, the cost of the convertible body would put such a car too close to the price of a 570S, making it unviable. Ah well, we’ll have to make do.
